The Jacksonville Jaguars have yet to confirm their practice squad roster but one player who is expected to be on it is former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Sidney Jones. Per ESPN’s Tim McManus, the fourth-year corner is now his way to Jacksonville after three seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jones, 24, was drafted by the Eagles in the second-round (pick No. 43) of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Washington. Based off where he was drafted the Eagles clearly had high hopes for him, however, injuries derailed Jones’ career starting with an Achilles tear he suffered during his Pro Day that hurt his draft stock tremendously. In fact, since entering the league, he’s only played in 22 regular season games out of 48.
In 2019, Jones participated in 12 games and started in four with the Eagles. He was a healthy inactive for a few games, too, last season, and also played some nickelback when he was on the field. That said, hopefully, a change in scenery will help Jones, as the Jags could desperately use him due to having a very young and inexperienced group of corners.
Jones will enter this season with 50 career tackles, two picks, and 10 pass breakups. The Jags’ acquisition of Jones on their practice squad was made possible by the new practice squad rules which allow each team to sign six veterans with an unlimited amount of experience.
