Report: Jags sign veteran DL Caraun Reid

The Jags had to place two defensive lineman on injured reserve Sunday which sent them into the free-agent market to sign DL Caraun Reid.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ front office has been a busy one Sunday as they had to place two players on injured reserve in defensive tackles Dontavius Russell (hip) and Brian Price (knee). To fill one of the spots left by the two, the team wasted no time heading into the free-agent market, and per Priority Sports agent Mike McCartney, the team signed a client of his in defensive end Caraun Reid.

Reid’s addition also comes after the Jags lost defensive lineman Lerentee McCray and Al Woods, who opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns for the coronavirus.

Reid, 28, entered the league in 2014 as a fifth-round draft choice (No. 158 overall) for the Detroit Lions out of Princeton. After spending two seasons there, he’s bounced around the league, playing for the San Diego Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, and Dallas Cowboys to name a few.

At 6-foot-2, 292-pounds, the Jags will likely look to kick Reid inside to defensive tackle. There he will join a group that includes veteran Abry Jones, third-year player Taven Bryan, and rookie DaVon Hamilton amongst notables.

Reid has participated in 47 total games since entering the NFL and has started in 16 games. He’ll enter 2020 with 50 career tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks on his career.
