Report: Ignite among teams to participate in G League bubble at Disney

The NBA G League is reportedly finalizing plans to host a bubble at the Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Florida.

The NBA G League is reportedly finalizing plans to host a bubble beginning in February at the Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Florida, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

18 existing teams, plus the NBA G League Ignite, have opted into playing a 12-to-15 game schedule inside of the bubble environment, similar to how the site hosted the NBA for three-plus months this year. The teams set to participate will each reportedly pay upward of $500,000 to compete in the bubble.

While 18 teams affiliated with an NBA team opted into the season, the remaining 11 decided against playing in the bubble due, mostly related to the financial obligations that come with participating.

The organizations that will field a team at Disney will tentatively arrive in their home markets on Jan. 19 and then travel to Orlando one week later. The regular season will tipoff on Feb. 8 with the playoffs scheduled to run March 5-9.
