Report: Giants to sign DB Madre Harper off Raiders’ practice squad

The New York Giants are signing rookie defensive back Madre Harper off of the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad.

The New York Giants have not been satisfied with their depth at cornerback or safety, and have made multiple adjustments since the 2020 regular season began just over three weeks ago.

Following an up-and-down performance by cornerback Isaac Yiadom in Week 3 and an injury to safety Jabrill Peppers (ankle), the Giants are once again making a change, signing rookie defensive back Madre Harper off of the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad.

Harper went undrafted out of Southern Illinois back in April. He had spent the first two years of his career playing at Oklahoma State.

In 11 games as a senior, Harper recorded 42 tackles (one for a loss), 14 passes defensed and two interceptions, while earning a coverage grade of 70.9 from Pro Football Focus. He was named honorable mention All-MVFC.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Harper failed to make the Raiders’ 53-man roster out of training camp and was subsequently signed to their practice squad.
