The New York Giants are putting the final touches on their 2020 coaching staff, and one of their most recent hires comes by way of Mike Treier.
Football Scoop was the first to report on Treier’s hire.
Sources tell FootballScoop Mike Treier has accepted a position on Joe Judge’s staff. Treier, who coached safeties at Marshall this past season, had accepted a role on Mike Norvell’s staff at Florida State….before being lured to join Steve Addazio’s staff at Colorado State. However, we are told he will coach in New York going forward.
Treier later confirmed the hire on Twitter, changing his bio, location, photo and cover photo to reflect joining the Giants.
Treier spent the last several seasons with Marshall, serving as their safeties coach and recruiting coordinator in 2019. Prior to that, he held various other roles for the program, including defensive backs coach in 2018 and defensive analyst in 2017. He also broke into coaching as a graduate assistant for Marshall during his first stint from 2014-2015.
In between his time at Marshall, Treier served as the co-defensive coordinator/secondary coach at UT-Martin in 2016.
It’s been a strange offseason for Treier, who, as Football Scoop noted, had accepted positions at Florida State only to move onto Colorado State and then take off on them to join the Giants.
