New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones may be a popular target among fans and some pundits across the league, but the organization could not be more pleased with him.

Yes, Jones has to clean up some mental mistakes and reduce his turnovers, but those in charge in East Rutherford believe that’s a matter of when and not if.

Even if the Giants end up with No. 1 or No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, do not expect to hear the name of Trevor Lawrence or the name of Justin Fields called. It’s just not going to happen, at least according to Zack Rosenblatt of NJ Advance Media.

Rosenblatt reports that the Giants do not view Jones as an issue and still believe he’s their long-term answer at quarterback.

The Giants still believe Jones can fill the Eli Manning-sized hole as their franchise quarterback. There are eight games left to evaluate if he is that guy. After a roller coaster 21 games to start his career, the Giants are still committed to Jones as their quarterback beyond 2020, too.

Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields be damned.

“They love him. They’re pleased with Daniel there internally,” a league source familiar with the Giants thinking told NJ Advance Media, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “He’s not going anywhere.”

Things could potentially change if general manager Dave Gettleman retires or is fired, but even that is beginning to seem less and less likely.

While owners John Mara and Steve Tisch may not be pleased with the team’s 1-7 record, they can’t be disappointed with the level of heart and tenacity this team plays with each week. They also have to be thrilled with the leadership of head coach Joe Judge, who has earned league-wide respect in just his first year.

Barring drastic changes over the final eight games of the season, there’s no legitimate reason for the team to once again blow things up and start over. For the first time in nearly a decade, the Giants are headed in the right direction and the only people who can’t see that are those who refuse to.

And it may be a tough pill for some to swallow, but that includes Daniel Jones.
