Report: Giants’ Daniel Jones could miss several weeks with neck injury

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones could miss several weeks after suffering a neck injury against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 12.

The New York Giants could be without starting quarterback Daniel Jones on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. They could also be without him for several weeks beyond that.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reports that Jones may miss an extended period of time after suffering a neck injury in Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

If you’re a glass half full sort of person, Raanan also reports there’s an outside shot Jones misses no time.

Jones was apparently injured early in the 13-7 upset victory this past Sunday. Sleuths who dove back into the film have focused on just the Giants’ second play from scrimmage — a designed quarterback scramble that saw Jones take an awkward hit on the ground at the end.

Had Jones just slid normally, perhaps he would have avoided injury.

Despite the neck strain, Jones managed to stay in the Eagles game and finish things out. He ended the game completing 19 of his 30 pass attempts for 202 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed the ball nine times for 30 yards.

In Jones’ potential absence, the Giants will turn to veteran quarterback Mike Glennon. He replaced Jones in a Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, completing 16 of his 25 pass attempts for 196 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Glennon has started against Miami just once in his career. That came in 2013 during a 22-19 Tampa Bay Buccaneers victory.
