Former Texas defensive coordinator Chris Ash will be reuniting with Urban Meyer in Jacksonville.

The move was reported nearly two weeks ago, but it was unclear the role that Ash would serve on Meyer’s staff. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, Ash agreed to terms with the Jaguars on Monday to become the secondary coach.

This will be the first stop in the NFL for Ash. However, he’s coached at the college level for the last 24 seasons.

He served as Ohio State’s co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach from 2014-15 under Meyer. After a four-year stint as the head coach of Rutgers, Ash joined Tom Herman’s staff at Texas as the defensive coordinator.

It shouldn’t come as a major surprise that Meyer targeted Ash shortly after accepting the job as head coach of the Jaguars. On Sept. 21, Meyer told FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff College Football Extra that Ash was the top coordinator hire in all of college football.
