The Miami Dolphins opted to move on from offensive lineman Jesse Davis, on Thursday, after five seasons with the team, and the move was expected with the two acquisitions they made in free agency.
Davis struggled mightily in 2021, grading as one of the worst tackles in the league. However, he’s shown some versatility with the ability to play either guard or tackle, and that’s an attribute that many teams covet.
On Monday, Davis took a visit with the Minnesota Vikings, who are looking for a right guard. According to Brandon Mileski of KFAN 100.3, Davis has agreed to a contract with Minessota, pending a physical. Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that the deal is for one year and is worth $3 million.
Davis will have an opportunity to start in Minnesota Oil Udoh had a tough year in 2021 and after the Vikings were unable to land restricted free agent Ryan Bates, who opted to sign an offer sheet with the Bears before the Bills matched and retained his services.
In Miami, his right tackle spot will likely be filled by either Austin Jackson or Liam Eichenberg, although head coach Mike McDaniel has stated that only Terron Armstead’s left tackle spot is solidified.
