Report: Ex-Giants assistant Ryan Roeder joins Penn State staff

Former New York Giants assistant Ryan Roeder has reportedly been hired for an off-field coaching role at Penn State University.

Shortly after the New York Giants named Joe Judge as their head coach, a purge of the previous staff began. And while some coordinators and assistants managed to hang on, offensive assistant Ryan Roeder was not among them.

Roeder originally joined the Giants in 2013 under Tom Coughlin and then remained on staff through the Ben McAdoo/Steve Spagnuolo and Pat Shurmur eras. However, he was dismissed on January 15 alongside outside linebackers coach Mike Dawson and defensive backs coach Everett Withers.

Roeder made one final appearance in East Rutherford about a week removed from his termination, joining a massive crowd that was in attendance to wish Eli Manning farewell.

A month later and Roeder is now back at work, reportedly joining Penn State University in an off-field role.

Penn State has yet to confirm Roeder’s hire and the exact definition of his off-field role has not been defined.
