Report: Dolphins agree to terms with DL Emmanuel Ogbah

The Miami Dolphins’ work continues! After a busy first day of negotiations with the upcoming free agent class of 2020, the Miami Dolphins have reportedly agreed to terms with their first free agent of the NFL’s second day of “legal tampering”. Miami bolstered the defensive line yesterday with the pending addition of DE Shaq Lawson, formerly of the Buffalo Bills, and now Miami is adding another rotational defender cut from the same cloth in former Browns and Chiefs defensive lineman Emmanuel Ogbah.

The news came through mid-morning courtesy of ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

In Ogbah, the Dolphins are securing more length and heavy hands to play up front and help this team corral control of the line of scrimmage. Miami’s defensive line needs more horses to help dictate and squeeze the pocket and backfield — Ogbah will provide plenty of that for the Dolphins.

No, he isn’t a premiere pass rusher and he shouldn’t be relied upon to serve as a slasher and penetration role off the edge. His ability to drop the inside shoulder and work around offensive tackles isn’t where he’s going to win. But think about what the Patriots have implemented with the likes of Trey Flowers and Deatrich Wise. That’s what can be expected of Ogbah with the Dolphins.

With Ogbah coming off of a career best season in 2019 (he logged 5.5 sacks in just 10 games last season), the Dolphins are hoping to capture his momentum as a player and continue the arrow pointing up. At just 26 years of age, Ogbah is yet another addition to Miami’s defense that will come in his physical prime. Stay tuned as the Dolphins’ roster overhaul continues throughout the course of the week — we have a feeling Miami is hardly finished tacking on veterans to help bolster the team.
