Report: Colts hosted OT Julie’n Davenport on free-agent visit

Colts hosted OT Julie’n Davenport on a visit.

The Indianapolis Colts hosted free-agent offensive tackle Julie’n Davenport for a visit on Thursday, per Field Yates of ESPN.

Searching for a new offensive tackle to protect the blindside of new quarterback Carson Wentz, Davenport is a project the Colts seem to have interest in.

Davenport was selected in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL draft by the Houston Texans while also having a two-year stint with the Miami Dolphins.

Davenport is a good athlete, which is a big selling point for the Colts. They like to have their offensive linemen work in space while also featuring plenty of pulls in their blocking scheme.

Davenport struggled in 2018 with the Texans, allowing a league-high 67 total pressures, per Pro Football Focus. He joined the Dolphins in 2019 where he would make nine starts in two seasons.

The Colts have a need to add depth and a starter at left tackle. Whether that will be Davenport remains to be seen and will be something to watch over the next week or so.
