The New York Giants have been and remain committed to trading cornerback James Bradberry in an effort to clear salary cap space.
However, at least early on, the market for Bradberry failed to develop. That threw a wrench in the Giants’ plans, who decided they would not release the veteran if they couldn’t secure a trade. They also later decided that they’d be willing to eat some salary in any potential trade.
The latter likely sparked some further discussion.
Nate Taylor and Dan Duggan of The Athletic report that the Kansas City Chiefs are zeroing in on Bradberry and are now interested in a trade.

Bradberry to the Chiefs always seemed like a logical outcome, but things had been relatively silent until now. And although Kansas City is interested in a trade, how much salary they are willing to take on and what they’re willing to send back will determine the outcome.
But the Giants are desperate. They know Bradberry has to be moved in order to sign their 2022 NFL draft class, so there aren’t many bargaining chips they can use. As long as the Chiefs are willing to assume a good portion of Bradberry’s salary, general manager Joe Schoen is likely to sign off.
Bradberry is in the final year of a three-year contract and has a base salary of $13.4 million. His 2022 cap hit is penciled in at $21.864 million.
