Report: Cavaliers to hold private workout with Jonathan Kuminga

Cleveland was among the teams on hand over the weekend in Chicago to scout Kuminga at his pro day.

With the Cleveland Cavaliers set to pick third in the NBA draft, the organization reportedly plans to host a private workout next month with Jonathan Kuminga, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.

Kuminga is widely considered to be a top-five pick after averaging 15.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and one steal in 13 games with the NBA G League Ignite. He produced four 20-point games and four double-doubles during the truncated season.

Cleveland was among the teams on hand over the weekend in Chicago to scout Kuminga at his pro day. Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman and assistant Mike Gansey were both in attendance to watch Kuminga during the workout.

While the Cavaliers have been linked more to Evan Mobley, Jalen Green and Jalen Suggs, the front office certainly wants to do their homework ahead of the draft, and bringing in Kuminga is part of that process. They are reportedly open to taking him with the third pick.

Kuminga possesses the ideal size at the next level to handle the physicality of the NBA, and he would be able to step in and play now. He projects to fit right in with the Cavaliers and could provide them with some help in the frontcourt.

The NBA draft is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 29.
