REPORT: Bucs have inquired about trading for Rams RB Cam Akers

Could the Bucs be adding to their RB room sooner than later?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be interested in some running back depth.

Jordan Schultz of the Score reported Tuesday that multiple NFL teams have called the Los Angeles Rams inquiring about a potential trade for running back Cam Akers — and one of those teams is the Bucs. Other teams include the Baltimore Ravens, the Las Vegas Raiders and the Cleveland Browns.

The report comes as Akers is being shopped by the Rams due to the emergence of RB Kyren Williams, who has been taking snaps from Akers in recent games. This isn’t the first time Akers’ relationship with the Rams has been strained — last year, he reportedly (and then denied) requesting a trade after not playing in Weeks 6-8.

So far in his career, Akers has rushed for 1,443 yards on 360 carries and has scored 10 touchdowns.
