The Brooklyn Nets (15-19) have not done much winning lately as they have won just two of their last 11 games. With the Nets being able to only beat the lowly Detroit Pistons, there is a lot of talk over what moves Brooklyn could do to change their current situation.
Despite all of the calls for the Nets to make something happen, it looks like the Nets are still trying to stick to their plan of building around guard Mikal Bridges. On Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski said on the social media app Threads that “I believe Brooklyn’s intent remains to build and add talent around” Bridges.
Coming into this season, Brooklyn was giving the impression that they were attempting to be as competitive as possible given how many talented players on the team like Bridges, forward Cam Johnson, center Nic Claxton, and talented, young guard Cam Thomas. However, after starting the season with a 12-9 record and having beaten the Phoenix Suns, Brooklyn are just 2-9 in their last 11 games, including an embarrassing 112-85 loss at the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday.
Bridges, 27, is averaging 20.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 45.6% from the field and 36% from behind the three-point line. Part of the talk surrounding Brooklyn making moves is because Bridges’ numbers this season is down from last season when he averaged 26.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 47.5% from the field and 37.6% from deep.
