Report: Brooklyn Nets going after PJ Tucker in NBA free agency

Earlier this week it was reported that the Brooklyn Nets would be interested in pursuing PJ Tucker in NBA free agency.

Earlier today it was reported that the Brooklyn Nets would be interested in veteran wing PJ Tucker.

Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News reported the news earlier this week, PJ Tucker actually opted-out of his $7 million player-option for his Miami Heat contract.

Kevin Durant and PJ Tucker have grown to be good friends since their on court scuffles, playing each other in the postseason before. The Nets’ interest in Tucker is legitimate as he brings a certain toughness to a defense.

Brooklyn only has enough salary space to sign someone as a mid-level exception, meaning that the veteran forward would need to take a significant pay cut.

The Nets will need to add some other contributors since some of their upcoming role-playing free agents will likely leave the team. Durant and Tucker have been involved with several kerfuffle’s on the court but their talents together could prove to be essential to the Nets postseason push.
