Report: Broncos trying to re-sign CB De’Vante Bausby

The Broncos want to re-sign cornerback De’Vante Bausby to a one-year deal.

The Denver Broncos won’t place a tender on restricted free agent De’Vante Bausby but the team is trying to re-sign him to a one-year deal, according to a report from KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

Placing an original-round tender on Bausby would cost about $2,144,000. The minimum salary for a fourth-year player like Bausby is $820,000 ($1.324 million less than the cost of a tender). Denver wants to bring him back, just at the right price.

Bausby (6-2, 190 pounds) spent time with three different NFL teams and even played in the Alliance of American Football before joining the Broncos last spring. He was a pleasant surprise last season, emerging as the team’s No. 2 cornerback across from Chris Harris.

Five games into the season, Bausby suffered a scary neck injury that prematurely ended his season. The 27-year-old cornerback has since recovered from that injury and is now healthy again.

If re-signed, Bausby would likely serve as Denver’s CB4 in 2020.
