The Buffalo Bills are reportedly very interested in wide receiver Chase Claypool as the 2020 NFL Draft approaches.
According to the Toronto Sun, the Bills met with the Notre Dame product at the Senior Bowl and then had an official meeting with him. In fact, it wasn’t a “virtual” meeting, either. The Bills were able to bring Claypool in for an actual workout because of its timing. The meeting occurred prior to the NFL’s shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Claypool is likely slated to be a Day 2 pick at the draft, but he could be a high second-round selection. He had a productive Senior Bowl, but an even better combine. Claypool’s 6-foot-4 frame is an appealing aspect for NFL teams, but at the combine he ran a 4.42 second 40 time. That certainly helped his draft stock.
During his senior season at Notre Dame in 2019, Claypool had 13 touchdowns in 13 games. He also had career-high numbers across the board, which included 66 catches and 1,037 receiving yards.
Buffalo’s chances to land Claypool are currently the No. 54 pick in Round 2 and the No. 86 slot in Round 3.
Chase Claypool is such a curious prospect.
If a team transitions him to TE he would be:
-2nd fastest TE ever at the combine.
-75th % or higher in college dominator, YPR, breakout age, and athleticism among TEs.
-Hand Size of 9 7/8” (83rd %)Would love to see this happen. pic.twitter.com/fn06Ibt3lS
