The Buffalo Bills have made their first change to their coaching staff during the 2023 offseason.
According to ESPN, the Bills have fired safeties coach Jim Salgado. He had been a defensive assistant on Buffalo’s staff since 2017 when head coach Sean McDermott was hired:
Bills safeties coach Jim Salgado was fired today, a source told ESPN.
Salgado has been on Sean McDermott's staff since 2017. From 2020-21, he was the team's nickels coach. He moved to safeties this year.

The Bills move on from Salgado at an interesting time. The team did not have the services of Micah Hyde at safety essentially for the entire 2022 season. Jordan Poyer did play in most outings, however, he played through injuries for a chunk of the year.
In the latter stages of the season, depth players Damar Hamlin (cardiac arrest) and Dean Marlowe (groin) were eventually injured, too.
Additionally, Buffalo might lose Poyer via free agency this spring. All in all, there might be numerous changes to the team’s secondary in the coming weeks.
It’s possible more coaching staff changes are on the way as well. Bills Wire will continue to provide those and all updates throughout the offseason.
