The Buffalo Bills were named one of two teams that are among those to “watch” regarding free-agent wide receiver Jarvis Landry.
Over the weekend, the Cleveland Browns traded for wide receiver Amari Cooper in a deal with the Dallas Cowboys. Following that transaction, Landry requested to be released and his wish was granted on Monday, according to Browns Wire.
Now in search of a new team, the Bills are evidently one of two being connected to Landry early on in free agency, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The other is the Kansas City Chiefs:

Off the bat, if Rap Sheet’s report holds true, gaining an asset while keeping one away the Chiefs could be a win-win for the Bills. On the field, there could be a nice spot for Landry, too.
While Landry was only just released himself, Buffalo has a player of their own halfway out the door in Cole Beasley. He requested to be traded on March 4 but a deal yet to be found. If a trade partner is not found, Beasley is likely to be released regardless.
Once that happens, Beasley leaves a huge hole for the Bills at their slot wide receiver spot. Isaiah McKenzie was recently re-signed and could play there, but Landry would be a better option having spent plenty of his NFL career so far over the middle of the field.
However, Landry does have a poor relationship with Buffalo. In 2016, Landry laid a blindside block on former Bills defensive back Aaron Williams.
The play effectively ended Williams’ career.
Landry was fined by the NFL for the play but not suspended. It remains to be seen if Landry would be welcomed in Buffalo by fans after that cheap shot–and if the Bills truly do have interest in signing Landry.
Landry, 29, had 52 catches for 570 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games played in 2021.
