The Cincinnati Bengals have been quite active in the NFL’s undrafted free-agency period after the draft.

But maybe not as active as they’d like.

According to Matt Zenitz of AL.com, the Bengals were in on Alabama defensive back Jared Mayden before he ended up signing with the San Francisco 49ers.

Mayden, a 6’0″ and 201-pound prospect from Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide, offered a ton of versatility but fell out of the draft. He would’ve made for an interesting camp-battler over the summer, at a minimum.

If nothing else, this gives us a hint of what the Bengals might have an eye as undrafted free agency continues.

We’ve got a UDFA tracker running and more in-depth breakdowns with highlights of each in the class, too.
