The Cincinnati Bengals have lost two defenders to the injury cart this week at training camp and it turns out at least one of those could miss the entire 2020 season.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, defensive tackle Renell Wren could miss the entire season if he opts for surgery to fix a “significant quadriceps injury.”

In a bit of better news, safety Shawn Willaims could reportedly be ready to go for Week 1: “On the other hand, there’s optimism on #Bengals S Shawn Williams, who was carted off Tuesday with a calf injury. He’s also getting a second opinion, but the initial hope is he could be back Week 1, per source.”

Wren went down with his injury Monday, a big issue for a Bengals team that already went out and signed Mike Daniels to massage the losses of Josh Tupou and Ryan Glasgow.

Williams suffered his injury Tuesday, another problematic issue for an overhauled Bengals defense. While the veteran has lost the starting role to new arrival Vonn Bell, he still figured to play a massive role on a rotational basis.

Depending on the final verdicts, the Bengals could again reach into free agency for help.
