Report: Amazon, FOX could target Sean McVay for broadcasting job

It seems like Sean McVay will be back with the Rams in 2022, but Amazon and FOX could make a run at him for a potential broadcasting job.

Sean McVay has yet to officially announce that he’ll be returning to the Rams in 2022 after winning Super Bowl LVI, but all indications point toward him being back for another season. He’s already begun assembling his coaching staff, is in line for an extension and his fiancée posted on Instagram that he isn’t retiring.

But that may not stop companies from pursuing him for potential broadcasting jobs. According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Amazon “could make a serious run” at McVay as it takes over Thursday Night Football rights.

Additionally, FOX is on the verge of losing Troy Aikman to ESPN, which would leave a void alongside Joe Buck on its No. 1 broadcast team. Marchand reports that FOX will consider Greg Olsen for that role, as well as McVay, Sean Payton and possibly Drew Brees, who currently works for NBC.

If McVay does want to leave coaching to get into the broadcast booth, it’s clear he’ll have his share of suitors willing to give him an opportunity. That doesn’t seem like his path right now for the 2022 season, but it’s a very real possibility that he retires from coaching in the coming years.
