Alabama may have scored a huge win over Georgia in Saturday’s SEC title game, but they appear to have lost one of their key players on offense for the rest of the season.
Wide receiver John Metchie III suffered a knee injury just before halftime Saturday night, and initial fears are a torn ACL, which would knock him out of the College Football Playoff (per ESPN).
Metchie caught six passes for 97 yards and a touchdown in the first half, helping the Crimson Tide mount an early lead they would never relinquish.
It remains to be seen how this injury will impact Metchie’s future plans, as he was projected to be among the top wide receiver prospects in the 2022 NFL draft class.
