A lot of the attention around the future of Michigan State Basketball under Tom Izzo has been focused on Emoni Bates. However, in any other time, the hottest story around MSU recruiting would be 5-star shooting guard Max Christie. According to a report from Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, Christie will be making his commitment to the Spartans official this week when he signs his National Letter of Intent to MSU.
Christie, who is from Rollings Meadows High School in Illinois, is the No. 1 ranked shooting guard in the 2021 class and the No. 12 ranked player overall that year by the 247Sports rankings.
Christie’s commitment was one of a series of huge recruiting wins for Tom Izzo in 2020. For most of his recruitment period, it looked like Christie was heading to Duke, and he comes in as one of the most highly coveted recruits in MSU basketball history.
This week, Michigan State will receive the NLI of five-star senior and commit Max Christie, he told @Stockrisers. With the signature, Christie becomes one of Tom Izzo’s top-rated recruits… ever.
Here’s his commitment breakdown with me from this summer.https://t.co/9Mwmdl2EYq
