This weekend will not only be a huge opportunity for Michigan State to earn the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament, but it will also be a massive recruiting weekend for both the football and basketball programs. We already knew that 5-star shooting guard Max Christie will be present along with five top football prospects, and today it was reported by Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers that 2021 4-star point guard Jaden Akins will also be in attendance on an unofficial visit.

Akins is the No. 3 ranked player in the state of Michigan according to the 247sports composite rankings. 247sports also has him projected to go to Michigan State and if that happens that will be a major recruiting win for Tom Izzo and the Spartans. As Weingarten mentioned, Akins has become a hot prospect in the Big Ten, with offers from Iowa, Michigan, and Michigan State.
