The Arizona Cardinals will take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16 in their home finale. It appears they will face Nick Mullens as the starting quarterback for the 49ers.

Starter Jimmy Garoppolo, who has been on injured reserve for an ankle injury since November 5, will not play in Week 16 and probably will miss the final two games of the season, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

He has dealt with a high ankle sprain for much of the season and his return before the end of the year was not ruled out, but with the 49ers unlikely to make the postseason at 5-8 entering Week 15, he will not likely see the field again.

The Cardinals opened the season with a 24-20 win over the 49ers on the road with Garoppolo at quarterback.

San Francisco, entering the weekend, was 2-5 with Mullens as the starter.

If the Cardinals win today against the Philadelphia Eagles and defeat the 49ers in Week 16, they could secure a postseason berth.
