QB Blake Bortles
Age: 28
We can confirm: Blake Bortles isn’t going to be signed to be your starting quarterback. The Bills do currently have a packed quarterback room. There’s Josh Allen at top, with Matt Barkley and Jake Fromm behind him. But the backup can be important. Barkley’s role is essentially the “veteran” and “experienced” No. 2 QB. But he’s really not even that anymore, Allen has started many more games than Barkley. In Bortles, you’d add a guy with 73-career starts and someone who isn’t mobile, but isn’t a statue, either. Could be a better mirror of Allen’s talents, as opposed to Barkley.
TE Jordan Reed
Age: 29
It’s been a sad spell for Jordan Reed. Once a seemingly fantastic tight end option who caught 87 catches in a season, a string of concussions has kept him sidelines. In 2019, he missed the entire season due to his seventh concussion. It’s really uncertain whether Reed will ever be able to play again. Perhaps the Bills’ medical staff can start to put things in the right direction for Reed and once he’s eventually cleared, he could be a solid No. 2 option to Dawson Knox. A massive “if” here.
