Re-live Texans Hall Of Fame WR Andre Johnson’s best career highlights before ceremony

Look back at the history of Houston Texans star Andre Johnson before he gets inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The countdown is on for Andre Johnson’s official enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio and everyone around the franchise is buzzing.

Years after waiting for the phone call, Johnson’s moment in the sun has arrived. The longtime Houston Texans receiver will take his rightful place as the first play in franchise history to call themselves a Hall of Famer.

And in preparation, the Texans are letting the world know how dominant he is as a player through highlights via their X account, including the one below posted Tuesday evening.

Johnson, the Texans’ all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns, was an offensive focal point of the Gary Kubiak era, helping Houston win its first two AFC South titles and first two playoff games. During his dozen seasons in a Texans’ uniform, he caught 1,012 passes for 13,597 yards and 64 touchdowns.

Drafted No. 3 overall out of Miami in 2003, Johnson also set an NFL record with 21 games with at least 10 catches and 100 yards. He’s second all-time in 100-yard games with 51 and is one of three receivers to lead the league in catches in back-to-back seasons since 1960, joining Hall of Fame receivers Jerry Rice and Calvin Johnson.

He’s one of the greatest players I’ve ever coached,Kubiak told HoustonTexans.com of Johnson. There’s never been any doubt in my mind that he deserved to be in the Hall of Fame because he’s one of the greatest receivers in history.”

The Texans will kick off Hall of Fame weekend with the annual Hall of Fame Game Thursday night against the Bears. Johnson will speak last among those being inducted on Saturday after being presented to the Hall by Kubiak.
