Reed Shephard Wins SEC Freshman of the Week

Kentucky’s Reed Sheppard was named SEC Freshman of the Week

Reed Sheppard won his third SEC Freshman of the Week award of the season this past week. Sheppard was instrumental in the Wildcats wins against Mississippi State and Arkansas this past week.

He had what may have been the best game of his career this past week when he helped pull the Wildcats back from behind Mississippi State to get the win. Sheppard had 32 points, seven assists, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. He scored 23 of his points in the second half and 11 of his points in the last minute and a half of the game. It was one of the best performances  in college basketball this season.

Shephard averaged 21 points per game for the week, shooting 67% from the field and 54.5% from behind the three point line. He also added 6.5 assists, 1 block and 1 steal per game.

The Freshman is one of five Wildcats to win the award this season, along with DJ Wagner, Aaron Bradshaw, Rob Dillingham and Justin Edwards. They have won the award a combined nine times this season.

The Wildcats next game will be Wednesday, March sixth at 9 p.m. EST against Vanderbilt at Rupp Arena. The game will air nationally on SEC Network.
