Redskins draft Chase Young, a certified Dallas Cowboys hater

Chase Young’s been hating on the Cowboys for a long time. Now he’ll get a chance to do something about it. Get ready, Tyron and La’el.

The NFC East just became a whole lot more interesting. With the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins selected Chase Young, defensive end from Ohio State. Widely considered the best talent in the draft, Young joins an already stout defensive front in Washington, and will try make a similar impact as did Joey Bosa when he went to a strong San Francisco 49ers defense.

Bosa’s pass-rush presence took the 49ers D over the top, but the backend of Washington isn’t very good. Still, joining Matt Ioannidis, Daron Payne, Ryan Kerrigan, Jonathan Allen and 2019 first-round pick Montez Sweat, Young will have the opportunity to become the leader he was in Columbus. And that will mean doing something he has likely wanted to do his entire life, make life miserable for the Dallas Cowboys.

Young is from Upper Marlboro, MD and grew up a Redskins fan. He went to famed DeMatha High School in Hyattsville, also in Prince George’s County, MD – the primary Washington, DC suburb. And he’s always rooted against Dallas.

It’s not very likely those feelings of contempt have faded, and it’s very likely they will grow. Washington has made a habit of finding locally grown talent.

For what it’s worth, Young’s disdain for the Cowboys hasn’t lessened the pride of his fellow Ohio State alum. Star Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott congratulated the man who will try to make life miserable for him and his quarterback Dak Prescott.

We’ll see if Tyron Smith and La’el Collins are as welcoming as Elliott is.
