Tennessee pitcher Redmond Walsh is one of 10 finalists for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year.
The organization released its list of 10 finalists Wednesday.
Walsh, a graduate student and left-handed relief pitcher, has been on the award’s preseason watchlist in each of the past three seasons. This is his first time, however, as a finalist for the award, which is awarded annually to the nation’s top relief pitcher.
The Stopper of the Year Award winner will be announced at a press conference at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska June 17.
Walsh, a Louisville, Tennessee native and Alcoa High School (Alcoa, Tennessee) graduate, leads the Volunteers with seven saves.
Walsh has recorded 23 career saves and is tied with Todd Helton for the most saves in school history.
