Red River Rivalry receives new logo and new sponsor for 2023 game

If the new Red River logo is any indication, college football’s best game has the right sponsor in Allstate.

The Red River game has a new name and logo. It also has a new sponsor. Allstate has taken over the responsibility of building the value of Oklahoma and Texas’ annual matchup in the Cotton Bowl. Judging by the new logo, the rivalry has the right sponsor.

As mentioned above he game will undergo a name change. Oklahoma and Texas will no longer meet as the Red River Showdown. Rather, the game will be called the Red River Rivalry.

There is some consternation over the title of the rivalry among fans. What was once called the Red River Shootout will now be known by what some would call a less divisive phrase. The logo change might be enough to appease fans.

Atop the title and logos for two teams is a gold Cowboy hat. Gold trim and lettering is the distinguishing feature of the new image that represents the game. The Cotton Bowl logo might be unlikely to return to midfield, but the new branding could complement intrigue for the game.

Texas will look to stay in the win column in the rivalry after last season’s 49-0 victory when it takes on Oklahoma on October 7.
