This week, shortstop Max Dantoni committed to Rutgers baseball. It is another big recruiting grab for head coach Steve Owens.
A product of Red Bank Catholic (Red Bank, N.J.)Dantoni started at shortstop for the Caseys last season, recording a .364 batting average.
A member of the 2025 recruiting class, Dantoni will join Julius Rosado as the second infielder to commit to Rutgers baseball’s 2025 recruiting class. According to Prep Baseball Report, Dantoni is the fifth commitment from New Jersey for Rutgers baseball’s class of 2025.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed shortstop has a ton of upside. Dantoni offers plenty of power at the plate, averaging an exit velocity of 64.4 MPH. According to Prep Baseball Report, his maximum exit velocity is 77.6 MPH. The new Scarlet Knight has a bat speed and hand speed of 56.9 MPH (max) and 18.0 MPH (max). In the field, he has a throwing velocity of 76 MPH. Also, Dantoni logged a 7.41 time in the 60-yard dash.
Dantoni isn’t the only 2025 recruit Rutgers baseball received this week from a New Jersey prospect. Christopher Sand from North Hunterdon High School committed on Tuesday.
