Four-star defensive lineman Christian Garrett committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Monday. Garrett decommitted from the Georgia Bulldogs on Aug 11.
Garrett’s commitment comes shortly after Georgia Tech knocked off Florida State, 24-21, to kick off the 2024 college football season. The Yellow Jackets are building serious momentum under head coach Brent Key.
Garrett is the No. 142 player in the 2025 recruiting cycle and plays high school football for Prince Avenue Christian in Bogart, Georgia. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound defensive line recruit ranks 18th at his position and 16th in Georgia, per 247Sports.
Garrett was Georgia’s top defensive line commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He is Georgia Tech’s third-highest ranked commit in the class of 2025. Georgia remains projected to land two five-star recruits along the defensive line in the 2025 cycle, but Garrett’s flip to Georgia Tech still stings.
The Yellow Jackets are hot on the recruiting trail right now. Georgia Tech has the No. 19 recruiting class in the country, which would be the Yellow Jackets’ best signing class in years. Five-star in-state offensive lineman Josh Petty recently became one of Georgia Tech’s top commitments in school history.

Georgia Tech appears to be closing the gap on Georgia in terms of talent. Head coach Kirby Smart and Georgia have the No. 4 recruiting class in the nation, which is still significantly better than Georgia Tech’s class.
