The Boston Celtics have hired former NBA head coach and ESPN broadcaster Jeff Van Gundy as a senior consultant for the team, expanding their support staff around head coach Joe Mazzulla. Van Gundy brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and experience to the storied ball club.
He is not joining the coaching staff, however, and instead will serve as a consultant for various aspects of the Celtics organization, potentially including advising the team’s front office and player development staff for both the Boston and Maine Celtics at the G League level. This move follows the Celtics’ recent trend of adding exceptional basketball minds to strengthen their organization for their run at a title in 2023-24.
