RB Kenyan Drake, CB Dre Kirkpatrick ruled out for Cardinals vs. Dolphins

The Cardinals will be without two of their three top cornerbacks in Week 9.

The Arizona Cardinals released their final injury report of the week for their Week 9 matchup this weekend against the Miami Dolphins. They will be missing three defensive starters with another who is questionable.

They were already down linebacker Devon Kennard and slot cornerback Byron Murphy, as they were both placed on the COVID-19 reserve this week after testing positive last weekend. They will be without starting cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, who was unable to practice all week with a thigh injury.

With Murphy and Kirkpatrick both out, Kevin Peterson and newly signed De’Vante Bausby are expected to fill in. Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph also suggested that safety Jalen Thompson, who was activated off injured reserve and returns to the starting lineup after missing the last seven weeks, could also have a role in the slot as well.

Starting running back Kenyan Drake, who suffered an ankle injury against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7, was also ruled out. He did not practice at all this week. Chase Edmonds will start in his place.

Two players are listed as questionable. One is defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, who missed Wednesday’s practice and was limited on Thursday and Friday with a hamstring injury. The other is special teamer Zeke Turner, who was limited all week with a toe injury.

Linebacker Jordan Hicks, who was limited on Wednesday and Thursday with both wrist and ankle injuries, was a full participant on Friday and is good to go for Sunday.

Tight end Maxx Williams, who has been designated for return off injured reserve, could be activated this weekend and have a role.

Ruled out:

  • RB Kenyan Drake (ankle)
  • CB Dre Kirkpatrick (thigh)

Questionable:

  • DT Jordan Phillips (hamstring)
  • LB Ezekiel Turner (toe)
