The Baltimore Ravens rounded out the fifth round by selecting fullback/tight end Ben Mason from Michigan. Mason was a bit of a surprise pick, considering the fact that Baltimore already has a Pro Bowl fullback in Patrick Ricard, but Mason should add another phenominal blocker to the Baltimore offense while also having the ability to play on defense, much like Ricard.
Despite playing somewhat of an H-back roll in college, Mason could profile as a blocking tight end for the Ravens and slide in next to Mark Andrews and Nick Boyle.
Mason is a versatile player who can fill a multitude of roles for Baltimore’s offense. He compares very nicely to Ricard, and now will learn under the Pro Bowler as he hopes to be a big part of Baltimore’s offense moving forward.
