Ravens’ DC Mike Macdonald to meet with Commanders

Commanders to interview Mike Macdonald for head coaching position

A day after their heartbreaking loss to the Chiefs, Mike Macdonald will travel down I-95 for a Monday meeting with the Washington Commanders.

Macdonald is reportedly a top candidate for their head coaching position.

Macdonald, 36, is scheduled to meet with new Commander’s owner Josh Harris, new General Manager Adam Peters, and other front office executives. The assistant coach of the year candidate reportedly drew interest from the Seattle Seahawks, who could schedule an interview. At the same time, Washington has also been linked to Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.

Macdonald is in his second season with Baltimore after serving as the University of Michigan’s DC under new Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh in 2021. Before that, he had a previous stint with the Ravens from 2014-2020, working his way from defensive assistant to defensive backs and linebackers coach.

The Ravens’ defense limited Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to 17 points in Sunday’s AFC title game. Baltimore finished the 2023 regular season ranked No. 1 in scoring defense, surrendering just 16.5 points per game.
