Raptors hesitant to ship Scottie Barnes to Nets in Kevin Durant trade

The Toronto Raptors are hesitant on including Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes in a deal to the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant.

With over half of the league making calls to the Brooklyn Nets with interest in Kevin Durant, the Raptors are reportedly hesitant to include Scottie Barnes in the package.

NBA insider Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports that the Raptors have become hesitant to include defensive guard Barnes in any trade package, even for the likes of former MVP Kevin Durant.

“The Raptors have balked at the notion of putting Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes in any deal. Although those same executives opined that could be a negotiating ploy by savvy Masai Ujiri, who has a history of pulling off huge trades.

A few weeks ago the Raptors were considered a dark horse to have Durant on the team. However, with a young talented roster and plethora of picks, they quickly inserted themselves into the conversation.

Durant’s preferred destinations are the Phoenix Suns or the Miami Heat, both teams likely unwilling to uproot their roster to ship young talent to Brooklyn.
