Raptors’ Dalano Banton placed in health and safety protocols

Banton on Monday was one of three Raptors players placed in the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

Toronto Raptors rookie Dalano Banton on Monday was one of three players placed in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, the team announced.

Banton also joined teammates Pascal Siakam and Gary Trent Jr. to enter the health and safety protocols on Monday. The team will reportedly sign Brandon Goodwin, Juwan Morgan and Nik Stauskas via hardship exceptions by the NBA to replace them.

The Raptors had their contest on Monday versus the Orlando Magic postponed because of players entering the health and safety protocols. The Magic have five players, and several staff members, out because of issues related to the coronavirus.

Players and coaches entered into the health and safety protocols are required to miss a minimum of 10 days in isolation. However, they can be cleared to play sooner if they return two consecutive negative PCR tests taken at least 24 hours apart.

Banton, through 27 games, is averaging 4.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 12.7 minutes. He has played a small role off of the bench at times this season for Toronto, while he has also logged time with the Raptors 905 in the NBA G League.

Toronto is scheduled to play next on Wednesday versus the Chicago Bulls.
