Randy Gregory apologizes for punch that led to fine

Randy Gregory was penalized twice during Sunday’s game, then he punched guard Oday Aboushi after the game.

Story update: Randy Gregory appealed his suspension and after review, the NFL reduced his discipline from a one-game suspension to a $50,000 fine. See our original post below.

After the Rams defeated the Broncos on Sunday, Denver pass rusher Randy Gregory and Los Angeles guard Oday Aboushi were caught on camera exchanging punches in a post-game argument.

The NFL quickly responded on Monday by suspending both players for one game. After news of the suspension broke, Gregory released the following statement:

Dear Broncos Country, I would like to thank my amazing teammates, staff, and fans who have supported me throughout this frustrating season. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize for my actions yesterday. The game was full of emotion and disappointment, and was not a reflection of my character. My goal is to finish out this season strong, play with pride and be part of the solution and not the problem going forward. Thank you.

Before the post-game punch, Gregory was penalized for a pair of 15-yard penalties and then benched. He has totaled seven quarterback hits and two sacks in six games (three starts) with the Broncos this year.
