Rams worked out a long snapper amid ongoing special teams issues

The Rams worked out long snapper Alex Matheson on Friday, a sign that more changes could be coming on special teams

Sean McVay told reporters on Friday that the Los Angeles Rams aren’t looking to make a change at kicker right now despite Lucas Havrisik’s ongoing struggles. Instead, they’re evaluating the kicking operation as a whole, including the long snapper and holder.

With Alex Ward on injured reserve, Carson Tinker has stepped in as the long snapper but McVay doesn’t seem totally pleased with his play. As a result, the Rams brought in Alex Matheson for a workout on Friday, a sign that there could be a change made at long snapper.

Matheson has never played in an NFL game but he did snap in the XFL for the St. Louis Battlehawks.

A former player at Cal Lutheran University, Matheson went undrafted in 2022 but was invited to the Ravens’ rookie minicamp.
