Matthew Stafford is going to be with the Los Angeles Rams for quite a while longer. The team announced on Saturday that he has signed a four-year extension, which keeps him under contract in Los Angeles through the 2026 season.
Stafford’s contract was set to expire after the 2022 season, so this new deal will be added onto his current one. He’s now signed for the next five seasons, which will carry him into his late-30s.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the contract is worth $160 million and comes with $135 million guaranteed. That works out to $40 million per year, tying him with Dak Prescott as the fifth-highest paid quarterback in the league.

In total, Stafford is tied to the Rams for the next five years at $183 million. Needless to say, the Rams are in good hands with their Super Bowl-winning quarterback moving forward, and he was deservingly rewarded for a remarkable first season in LA.
Last season, Stafford had 4,886 yards passing, 41 touchdowns and a league-high 17 interceptions. But he absolutely excelled in the postseason with 1,188 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions in four games, leading the Rams to a Super a Bowl victory over the Bengals.
