Matthew Stafford certainly will not be lacking weapons on offense in his first season with the Los Angeles Rams. After already adding Tutu Atwell in the second round, the Rams drafted Jacob Harris at No. 141 overall in the fourth round.
He’s a hybrid tight end-wide receiver who can line up inside and outside. Harris is an athletic mismatch at 6-foot-5 and 219 pounds with 4.40 speed.
A former soccer player, Harris took up football late and is already 24 years old. But he was an explosive playmaker at UCF the last two seasons. He caught 49 passes for 987 yards (20.1 per) with nine touchdowns in 2019-2020, putting up solid numbers in his only two seasons as a contributor.
The Rams just drafted Brycen Hopkins in the fourth round last year, who’s a similar player to Harris. But Harris is undoubtedly more of a wide receiver than Hopkins, so maybe there’s room for both in L.A., along with Tyler Higbee.
Harris gives the Rams a vertical, jump-ball weapon, which is a player type that Stafford loved in Detroit (Calvin Johnson, Marvin Jones, Kenny Golladay).
