The Los Angeles Dodgers made a blockbuster deal on Thursday just ahead of the MLB trade deadline, acquiring Trea Turner and Max Scherzer from the Nationals as they make yet another push to win a World Series. The Dodgers were already among the teams favored to win another championship, but this deal may just put them over the top.
On the same day, the Lakers also made a massive trade with a Washington team, acquiring Russell Westbrook from the Wizards. The move gives the Lakers an elite point guard to go with LeBron James and Anthony Davis as L.A. tries to win its second NBA title in three years next season.
The Rams always fancy a big trade themselves, and they had an eye on these huge moves by their citymates. They’d probably love to make an L.A.-Washington trade of their own – who wouldn’t want Chase Young, Montez Sweat, Terry McLaurin, Antonio Gibson or Jonathan Allen on the Rams? – but their draft capital is … lacking.
They even made fun of themselves for that fact on Twitter, tweeting that they have a 2093 first-round pick to offer Washington.
So this whole DC to LA thing…

A 2093 first-rounder for Chase Young: Who says no? Probably the Rams, considering Young will be, well, not so young 72 years from now.
