The Los Angeles Rams lead the Washington Commanders 13-0 at halftime in Week 15 NFL action.
The theme of the first half for Washington: Bad offense. The defense forced two turnovers, and the offense immediately went three-and-out after both turnovers.
Quarterback Sam Howell completed seven of 16 passes in the first half for 52 yards. He also led the Commanders with 19 rushing yards on two attempts. Washington has struggled to protect Howell, while Howell hasn’t necessarily been accurate with the football.
The Commanders finished the first half with just 83 yards of offense. Howell was sacked once.
Meanwhile, things have been better defensively. While the Rams have scored three times, Washington’s defense did force two fumbles. And the Commanders tightened up and forced field goals on two of Los Angeles’ drives to keep the game close.
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford essentially did anything he wanted in the first half, completing 16 of 20 passes for 125 yards. Running back Kyren Williams carried the ball 12 times for 81 yards and a touchdown. However, he also fumbled twice. The Rams have 118 rushing yards and 242 yards of total offense as a team.
Los Angeles will receive the second-half kickoff.
