Rams activate Justin Hollins, promote 6 players from practice squad amid COVID-19 outbreak

The Rams added six players to the active roster from their practice squad after losing five players to the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The Los Angeles Rams added Tyler Higbee and Jalen Ramsey to the COVID-19 reserve list just hours before facing the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night, bringing the total to five starters who will miss the game due to COVID-19.

With their depth taking such a significant hit, the Rams were forced to turn to their practice squad to find replacements. The team announced it has called up six players from the practice squad for Monday night’s game, and also activated Justin Hollins off injured reserve.

The six players called up from the practice squad are as follows: DB Grant Haley, RB Javian Hawkins, DB Kareem Orr, TE Jared Pinkney, WR Brandon Powell and G Jeremiah Kolone.

Everyone except Kolone were deemed COVID-19 replacements, which is how the Rams were allowed to call up more than the allotted two per week.

Even after promoting Orr and Haley, the Rams are dangerously thin at cornerback. Darious Williams and David Long Jr. are the only other cornerbacks who were on the active roster prior to Orr and Haley being called up.

At tight end, it’ll be up to Kendall Blanton, Brycen Hopkins and Pinkney, while Hawkins will help replace Henderson. Sony Michel and Mekhi Sargent are the other healthy running backs for Monday night.
