Davante Adams is coming off one of the best seasons of his career. And yet, there is still a debate as to where he ranks among his peers. Some believe he is the best receiver in football. Others believe he is just outside of the top five.

So where does Pro Football Focus rank the former second-round pick from Fresno State? At the tippy top.

In a recent article by Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus, he ranked the top 32 receivers entering the 2023 season. To no surprise, Adams came in at No. 1. Here is why Monson believes Adams is still the top receiver in the league:

The masses think Justin Jefferson is the best receiver in the NFL, but I see no white towel thrown in on Adams’ career. Last season, his first without Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, Adams caught 100 passes for 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns, six more than Jefferson.

He averaged 2.45 yards per route run, and over the past three seasons he leads the NFL in PFF receiving grade (94.5) and yards per route run (2.67), with Jefferson placing second in each category. Adams remains the king of receivers until somebody topples him.

Adams will turn 31 on Christmas Eve, but there are no signs at all that he is slowing down. In fact, you can make an argument that last year was his best season in the NFL to date.

We shall see how another quarterback change will impact his play, but given how consistent and reliable he’s been over the last half-decade, we should expect Adams to have another All-Pro season. He’s the best receiver in the league and that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.
